Lewis Capaldi and Ellie MacDowall have reportedly split
After Lewis Capaldi and Ellie MacDowall went public with their relationship last year, with Lewis even speaking out about their romance in the press, the pair have reportedly split after two years.
27-year-old Lewis and 24-year-old actor and dancer Ellie, were spotted getting close at a BRITs after party in February 2023. They were seen kissing on a sofa at the party before Lewis headed onto the dance floor, according to a report in The Sun. A source added that Lewis is "in love" and "couldn't be happier".
But sadly, it wasn't to be - in August 2024, news broke that the pair had split after two years together. A source told The Sun the pair had struggled to make long distance work with differing schedules. "Lewis and Ellie had some long conversations and decided it was best for them to end things," the insider said.
"It was a mutual decision. They are still friends and have been talking, so all is not lost. Ellie is still based in Edinburgh and Lewis lives in London so it’s been hard for them to see each other."
So far, neither Lewis or Ellie have spoken out about the break up, but here's to hoping they're both OK.
What has Lewis said about Ellie?
In an April 2023 interview with BBC Radio 2, Lewis opened up about his relationship for the first time with Scott Mills. The pair were discussing new single 'Wish You The Best', which Lewis explained was about, "All you say is, 'good luck, I’m really happy for you,' but actually you are dying inside and want to tell them all the things you miss about them and why they should stay with you, so it’s just a really happy song for the summer."
The singer was then asked if he was in a rush to settle down, and while he didn't answer directly, he responded, "I have a girlfriend and that’s going really well. I am a happy chappy, she’s a lovely lady. I feel good about everything."
When were Ellie and Lewis first linked?
Ellie and Lewis were first pictured together in November 2022 on a romantic dinner date. However, it's not clear if they had been seeing each other before then, or if that was an early date.
A source told The Sun, Lewis "has been dating Ellie for some time now" but the BRITs after party was the first time they had taken their relationship into the spotlight.
In a number of her Instagram stories at the time, Ellie has shared pictures and videos from behind the scenes of Lewis' tour.

Ellie is a 23-year-old actor and dancer from Scotland. She's a university graduate and studied dance for commercial performance for three years. She's also trained in acting and singing.
