Line Fire exceeds 1,100 acres in San Bernardino County
More than 250 fire personnel battled the 1,180-acre Line Fire Friday as temperatures climbed toward triple digits in San Bernardino County.
There was no containment of the blaze in the Highland area, Cal Fire reported.
Agencies responding included Cal Fire's San Bernardino-Inyo-Mono Unit, the city of Highland and the San Bernardino National Forest, which is about 20 miles east of the fire.
The fire was reported around 6:30 p.m. Thursday as a vegetation blaze near Baseline and Aplin streets in Highland. The blaze grew to 505 acres overnight, and 1,180 acres by Friday afternoon, Cal Fire said.
The fire is east of Weaver Street on the eastern outskirts of Highland, according to a Cal Fire map. It's north of Greenspot Road.
The cause is being investigated, Cal Fire said.
Line Fire: Evacuation warnings
Cal Fire issued evacuation warnings on X, formerly Twitter, at 12:41 a.m. Friday for Highland neighborhoods east of Church Street and north of Highland Avenue. Cal Fire also issued an evacuation warning for a neighborhood that extends east of Weaver and north of Greenspot to the Iron Bridge.
No mandatory evacuations have been ordered, Cal Fire said.
Cal Fire didn't announce any road closures.

Line Fire: No structures threatened
No structures were damaged or threatened as of Friday morning, Cal Fire reported. The agency didn't report any injuries.
Line Fire: Heatwave to continue
Firefighters dealt with a heat wave that is expected to hit its peak Friday. The National Weather Service predicted the high in Highland would approach 111 degrees and noted the wind would be westbound and calm at 5 mph Friday afternoon. The wind was expected to remain the same speed but change to a northeast direction Friday night.
There's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service said.
But the heat wave is expected to continue, with a predicted high of 108 on Saturday.
