LIST: Boil water notices issued across the region
Tenn./Va. (WJHL) — Several localities have issued boil water alerts following Friday’s major flood event across the region.
Dozens of families searching for missing loved ones as floodwaters begin to recede
News Channel 11 compiled a list of active boil notices in the area:
Elizabethton Water Resources, South Elizabethton Utility District
First Utility District of Carter County
Hampton Utility
Mount Rogers Health District (on behalf of the Virginia Department of Health)
South Elizabethton Utility: “Due to major Power outages affecting our pumps and line breaks from flooding water, the Community Served by South Elizabethton Utility District will be experiencing systemwide water outages and will stay on a boil notice until this is resolved. We are working around the clock to get the community back in water. Thank you for your time.”
Newport Utilities
Unicoi County (entirety, per county EMA)
Lee County Public Service Authority for the Eastern Lee, Cave Springs, Jasper and Old Woodyway Road communities
The Town of Jonesborough, the Town of Greeneville and Greene County leaders are also asking residents and businesses to conserve as much water as possible.
