1 dead, 4 firefighters injured in Stone Canyon Fire near Lyons
DENVER (KDVR) — The Stone Canyon Fire that began in Boulder County on Tuesday forced evacuations and road closures. As of Wednesday just before 7:30 p.m., the fire was estimated at 1,548 acres with 20% containment.
The Boulder County Sheriff reported one death in the blaze after human remains were discovered in one of the residences. An investigation is underway to determine the identity and cause of death.
The Stone Canyon Fire began Tuesday afternoon in a neighborhood north of Lyons. Evacuations for the town of Lyons were lifted Wednesday morning, although some homes may not have utility service when residents return.
