LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Livingston Parish Public Schools announced that construction on three major projects is underway.
The three construction projects are for the new South Fork Junior High School in Walker, the new cafeteria and classroom wing for Albany Upper and Lower Elementary Schools and the new gym at Live Oak Junior High, according to a news release.
The $25 million project for the new South Fork Junior High School is expected to accommodate 800 students when it opens and will share the campus with South Fork Elementary, according to a news release. The new high school will also share the cafeteria kitchen with the elementary school.

The new gym that is currently being built for Live Oak Junior High will be replacing the one that was burned down in 2022. According to a news release, the gym will feature a regulation court, bathrooms, team lockers and a concessions area.
Finally, the new cafeteria that is being built for Albany Upper and Lower Elementary Schools will take up the space of the former classroom wing on the Upper Elementary campus, according to a news release.
“The current cafeteria will remain in operation until the new one is completed, and at that time, it will be renovated for other educational space,” said Livingston Parish Public Schools in a news release.
The new cafeteria will offer more seating capacity, which will allow the two schools to serve lunch at the same time in individual dining areas. According to a news release, the new classroom wing will feature four classrooms and student bathrooms.
