Lizzo, famed singer-songwriter, joined Vice President Harris in Detroit for a Saturday rally where she highlighted her love for the city and jabbed at former President Trump’s negative comments about the Michigan city.

“I’m so proud to be from this city,” Lizzo, a Detroit native, told the crowd.

“You know, they say if Kamala Harris wins, then the whole country will be like Detroit, okay? Proud like Detroit. Resilient like Detroit,” she continued. “We’re talking about the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry, so put some respect on Detroit’s name, okay!”

The remarks were made after Trump compared the city to a “developing nation” during a campaign event last Thursday at the Detroit Economic Club.

“Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s your president. You’re going to have a mess on your hands,” Trump said on Oct. 10 about Harris.

Since then, the Harris-Walz team has fired back with an ad blitz and additional stops in the city to pick up voters who may have been offended by the Republican nominee’s remarks.

During her Saturday rally in the Motor City, Harris walked on stage wearing a “Detroit vs. Everybody” t-shirt under her usual blazer.

“Who is the capital of producing records?” Harris said at her rally. “We are going to break some records here in Detroit today.”

The Democratic nominee encouraged voters to cast their ballots ahead Nov. 5 and in her favor. Early voting in Michigan begins on Oct. 26.

Trump has a lead over Harris in the Great Lakes State by 0.4 percent according to The Hill’s internal polling site Decision Desk HQ.

Following Harris’s star-studded Michigan rally, she flew to Georgia to campaign alongside Atlanta singer Usher.
