Lizzo Slams Kamala Harris Critics Who Believe She Did “Nothing” As Vice President
On Sunday (July 21), President Joe Biden withdrew his bid for reelection and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris’ run instead.
Many including Lizzo are now speaking up for Harris as critics conjure up misinformed backlash about the Democratic front-runner. In a video shared on Monday (July 22), the “About Damn Time” singer called out the naysayers who claim Harris “did nothing” during her time as Vice President.
“For everyone saying that Kamala Harris didn’t do anything when she was VP, please, for $5,000, do not use Google, tell me what any vice president has ever done during their term that was notable that you noticed,” Lizzo stated.
She continued, “The vice president’s job is to take a backseat and support while the president does everything that’s forward-facing. It’s funny because when Joe Biden was VP, the only things I really remember him doing was making cool videos with Barack [Obama], but when he ran for president, I didn’t hear that same, ‘He didn’t do anything when he was VP’ from people. So I wonder why y’all are saying it now.”
Lizzo then made a proposition: “Can we all just be for real?,” adding, “I think there’s enough BS in the world. Let’s all be for real and just say our quiet parts out loud because the discourse is tired.”
Cardi B also announced her support for Harris’ presidential bid, alluding that she predicted this back in June.
“Been told y’all Kamala should’ve been the 2024 candidate. Y’all be trying to play the Bronx education, baby this what I do!!! Been my passion.. don’t let my accent fool y’all,” quipped the Invasion Of Privacy rapper.
Following Biden’s resignation and intention to serve out the rest of his term, Harris released a statement regarding her campaign.
“On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country. I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda,” she wrote.
Since then, she’s raised over $50 million in donations.
