Locke and Key season 2 dropped on 22nd October, and already it's one of the top watched shows on Netflix UK. Fans are obsessed with the second series, which follows three siblings who move into a mysterious house following their father's murder.
The big question is, will there be a season three? Here's what we know about the next instalment, from release date to cast and teaser trailers.
Has Locke and Key season 3 been announced?
Big news, guys! Deadline reported way back in December 2020 that the show will be back for a third instalment, which was confirmed even before season 2 aired.
Vice president of overall deals for Netflix, Brian Wright, said at the time, "[Showrunners] Carlton [Cuse] and Meredith [Averill] have built an incredible world in Locke and Key and we're excited to have the Lockes return for more in the third season." YAY.
Who will star in Locke and Key season 3?
We can assume all the usual Locke family characters will be back for the third series, plus other main stars. Those include:
Tyler (Connor Jessup)
Kinsey (Emilia Jones)
Bode (Jackson Robert Scott)
Nina (Darby Stanchfield)
Duncan (Aaron Ashmore)
Scot (Petrice Jones)
Josh (Brendan Hines)
Frederick Gideon (Kevin Durand)
What is Locke and Key about?
Based on the comic books by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez, the coming-of-age supernatural drama follows three siblings and their mother's move into Keyhouse. It's full of magical keys connected to their father's death, which also spur on unique powers from within them.
When will Locke and Key season 3 be released?
It's a bit of a mystery. Season 1 premiered in February 2020, while season 1 dropped 20 months later in October 2021. But according to Darby Stanchfield (Nina Locke), filming for the third season wrapped back in September 2021, so the upcoming chapter could theoretically arrive at any moment.
Assuming it's another 20 month wait, we're predicting June 2023. Eek.
Locke and Key seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix.
