Lockport man sentenced for fatally shooting bicyclist with air gun

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Lockport man was sentenced Monday afternoon for fatally shooting a bicyclist in Buffalo with an air gun and causing his death, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

According to officials, 44-year-old Kenneth James shot 38-year-old Joseph Dash in the chest as he was riding a bike on Broadway near Krettner Street. The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2023. Dash died at the scene.

James pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter in March. He was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of two to six years in prison.
