Lone Rock Fire in Gilliam County brings Level 2 “Be Set” evacuations
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A fire in Gilliam County Oregon has burned 5,000 acres since it sparked Saturday afternoon. As a result, Level 2 “Be Set” evacuation notices were issued for the area as of Sunday morning, the Oregon State Fire Marshal announced.
Officials say the the fire was first reported just before 4:30 p.m. and burned about 4,200 acres by the evening.

Given this, the Fire Marshal mobilized a task force from Linn County to assist the local fire agencies from Gilliam County, the Oregon Department of Forestry and the Prineville Bureau of Land Management.

The Fire Marshal added any evacuation notices will be issued by the Gilliam County Sheriff‘s Office.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
