Lorna Luft is the daughter of actress Judy Garland and Sidney Luft. Her half-sister is Liza Minnelli.

According to Luft’s biography page on iMDB, she lived an “idyllic childhood” until her parents divorced, and she faced her mother’s drug addiction.

“My mother was a magnificent human being and a talent we will never see again. And yes, my mother was addicted to prescription drugs,” said Luft.

“In the end, no one could have saved her. We did not have the knowledge, education and facilities we have now.”

Luft — who penned the 2018 New York Times bestseller, “A Star is Born: Judy Garland and The Film That Got Away” — spiraled into addiction like her mother, according to a DEC news release. She will share her journey to sobriety during the luncheon.
