‘Loss is immeasurable’: Local fire chief killed while on vacation

KILLBUCK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — Killbuck Township Fire and EMS in Holmes County announced the death of its fire chief.

Scott Kashuba, who had been the fire chief since 2017, was reportedly on vacation in South Dakota when he was killed in a vehicle crash Monday. The fire department said the death is considered active duty.
He had served the community for 22 years in a variety of roles with the fire department.
“This loss is immeasurable and the community will certainly be at a loss because of it,” the fire department said in a statement. “We would like to thank Scott’s family for all of the missed birthdays and holidays and dinners so that he may answer the call for others.”

The fire department did not announce any other details regarding the traffic accident.
