Louisburg restaurant employee allegedly stealing customers’ credit card information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Louisburg Police Department is currently investigating a theft involving a former employee of the Timbercreek Bar and Grill.

If you visited the restaurant between the dates of July 31 and Aug. 16 and used your credit card or debit card to purchase food and drinks, police say you may have had your information stolen.

“Of course, I think that’s horrible,” Louisburg resident Priscilla Jamison said. “I think it’s going to affect all the locals that go there so much, I mean, they go there regularly.”

“It’s such a shame in a small community that something like this would happen,” recent patron Robin Hackney said.

Chief Josh Weber said so far, about 40 people have been impacted.

“It appears the employee was altering the amount on the actual receipt at the restaurant,” Weber said, “but because we know the employee had access to the credit card information at the time, we’d ask the public to check for any other charges outside of that.”

Hackney said she will take a second look at her statement. Her family goes to Timbercreek at least once a week.

She said despite that former employees’ actions they’ll continue to support the restaurant.

“t’s just a shame when all in all this is a great place to be, the Kansas City area in general is wonderful,’ Hackney said, “There’s always going to be those bad seeds, but unfortunately, we have to deal with some of those things.”

Weber said the woman was taken into custody and interviewed. He said police are working with the county attorney.

Weber said it depends on the dollar amount and number of people who come forward – if the former employee could see charges in municipal or district court.

Regardless, Weber reminds people to regularly check your bank statements, and said don’t leave behind the customer copy or your receipt.

“It’s better to take that receipt with you, even if you don’t want to check it against your statement, please take it with you and destroy it,” Weber said. “That way there’s no way chance that an employee could get ahold of it and potentially alter and turn in a second copy or something like that.”
