Louisiana man pleads guilty to migratory bird game violations, suspended from hunting for 1 year
IBERVILLE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — An Iberville Parish man pleaded guilty on Wednesday, July 24 for migratory bird game violations.
Hunter Settoon, 20, of Bayou Pigeon, pleaded guilty to placing bait to hunt migratory game birds and taking migratory game birds over a baited area, according to a news release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Settoon was sentenced by U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard L. Bourgeois Jr. to pay a $1,135 fine and suspended the Bayou Pigeon man from hunting for a year, according to a news release.
He was federally cited by LDWF enforcement agents on Jan. 1, 2023, in Iberville Parish. LDWF said agents watched Settoon hunt migratory game birds over an area that agents reported to be baited with wheat and corn.
