Louisiana pet rescue in need of donations and cat fosters after closure
GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – The Rescue Alliance, a cat rescue center in Gonzales, has temporarily closed their doors. They are in need of foster homes to continue cat rescues and donations to open up a new center.
After two years of having their own rescue center, it was closed due to landlord and building issues.
“Cannot get the building cooler than 86 degrees with the steady surge in heat. It was just not healthy for the cats to be in anymore,” said Jonathan Henriques, founder of the Rescue Alliance.
Obligating them to go back to their roots for the next few months, he said.
“We have the resort back to being a foster based rescue,” Henriques said.

People in the community are stepping up like resident Judi Stoute. She has fostered seven cats from the cat rescue center. Stoute said it is essential to provide a home for the cats in need and encourages others to help by fostering.
“I kind of think of myself like, like a caregiver or like a teacher. I love them while I have them and help raise them up. And then I send them on their way,” she said.
Meanwhile, a new center is in the works. Henriques asked for donations to open up a dream center he has in mind.
“We want to open up what we call our perfect paws animal sanctuary,” he said.
For those interested in fostering, Henriques said people are given supplies and the process is simple.
“We provide the cat litter, the food and the needed necessities, along with all the vaccines and everything,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of cute babies like this that are actually looking for a foster home just for about the next month.”
If you are interested, donations can be made via GoFundme, Paypal, Cash App or Venmo.
