Louisiana state representative charged with DWI in Ascension Parish
GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — A state representative has been charged with a DWI after Louisiana State Police said he was reportedly swerving on a highway in Ascension Parish.
Troopers said a 2018 GMC Yukon could be seen swerving in and out of the travel lane on Louisiana 44 near I-10 in Ascension Parish after midnight Friday, July 26.
LSP identified the driver as State Rep. Kendricks “Ken” Brass, 47, of Vacherie.
According to state police, a trooper suspected impairment and conducted field sobriety tests before Brass was arrested and taken to the Gonzales Police Department. Troopers said he agreed to take a chemical breath test “and registered over the legal limit.”
Brass was released on a summons for charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving on a roadway laned for traffic after being fingerprinted at the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office District 2 Substation.
