Luke Bryan concert prompts schedule changes for Chesapeake Public Schools
CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — On Monday, Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS) announced schedule changes for several schools due to traffic concerns related to the upcoming Luke Bryan concert at Heritage Park off of South Battlefield Boulevard.
Southeastern Elementary School and Hickory Elementary School will operate on an early release schedule on Friday, Sept. 20. Students and staff at both schools will be released at 1 p.m.
According to CPS, school breakfast and lunch will still be served, and all fifth-grade students at both schools will still attend the Oceana Air Show.
Hickory High School and Hickory Middle School will switch to synchronous virtual learning on Friday, Sept. 20, therefore students will log onto their computers for class at home.
Afterschool activities have been canceled for each school on that day.
The schools will inform families with the details and schedule for the virtual learning day on Sept. 20 through email and in Canvas.
The concert is part of the Luke Bryan Farm Tour 2024.
