Man accused of menacing people by firing shots into the ground arrested
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man has been arrested after being accused of menacing people by using a gun to fire shots into the ground in North Portland in May, authorities said.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers responded on May 30 at 11:15 p.m. on reports of a shooting in the 8600 block of North Lombard Street. Upon arrival, police found three used bullet casings. Three witnesses told officers they were “being menaced by a suspect who fired three rounds into the ground.”

On Wednesday, Lindell D. Betts was arrested after being identified by the Enhanced Community Safety Team as the primary suspect. The Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team had served a warrant at the home where he was located, in the 9500 block of North Lombard Street, where officers also seized three guns.
Betts was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces charges that include unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
