Man accused of Northeast Portland homicide arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in Northeast Portland back in May, in which 34-year-old Gresham resident Ozell Shepherd was killed.

Oregon is currently the top wildfire priority in the U.S.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, homicide detectives with the assistance of U.S. Marshals arrested 23-year-old Alex M. Brown-Golden on Tuesday.

On May 4, officers responded at 5 a.m. to a reported shooting in the 15700 block of Northeast Beech Street in the Wilkes Neighborhood. They found a man, later identified as Shepherd, who died at the scene. A medical examiner later confirmed Shepherd died of homicide by gunshot wound.

A search was conducted but no suspect was located or arrested at the time.

Brown-Golden is being lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces charges that include second-degree murder with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information who has yet to speak with authorities is encouraged to contact police.
