Man accused of running into traffic while holding juvenile in Hollygrove

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man is in the custody of the New Orleans Police Department after allegedly running into traffic with a juvenile in the Hollygrove area on Monday, Aug. 5.
The NOPD reported that the incident happened in the 3000 block of Monroe Street around 1:51 p.m.

NOPD officials said 33-year-old Darius Sampson allegedly ran into traffic while holding an unidentified juvenile and laid down.
According to the NOPD, Sampson then ran toward an oncoming vehicle and threw himself into the windshield, causing it to shatter.

Sampson was taken into custody, and the juvenile was taken away.
The NOPD did not release additional information.
