Man arraigned for alleged execution-style killing in Jamestown
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arraigned Tuesday for an alleged execution-style killing of another man at a Jamestown apartment complex in January, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
Darius Kadenhead, 33, is accused of killing 28-year-old Marlon Clay by shooting him in the back of the head on Jan. 22 at the Parkview Apartments, located on W 4th Street in Jamestown. His body was found two days later.
Kadenhead was arrested in Buffalo on Jan. 25. Prosecutors said Wednesday that at the time of the alleged killing, Kadenhead had been on parole for four months after he was released from state prison for a prior manslaughter conviction.
For the January incident, he is charged with second-degree murder. In addition, a new weapons charge is also being prosecuted by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office as he was alleged in possession of a loaded gun when he was taken into custody.
“Taking Mr. Kadenhead off the street on those charges satisfied our public safety concerns, which are always our number one priority when investigating violent crimes,” Chautauqua County DA Jason Schmidt said in a news release. “And gave us the time needed to continue our efforts to develop evidence which we eventually presented to a Grand Jury.”
He will return to court on Aug. 5.
