18-year-old arrested for 7th Topeka homicide

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topeka police have arrested a man in connection with the 7th homicide of the year.

According to Topeka Police Department (TPD), Dasanee D. Curry, 18, of Topeka was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. Curry was arrested on the following charges:

  • Murder in the 1st degree

  • Attempted murder in the 1st degree

  • Aggravated child endangerment

  • Criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling

  • Criminal damage of property

Police identify central Topeka shooting victim

Last Friday, TPD found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3100 block of Southwest Westover Road in west Topeka. The man, identified as Brian M. Wright, later died. The woman’s injuries are considered to be life-threatening. This is the 7th homicide investigation of the year.
