Man arrested in connection to deadly shooting in Prince George’s County
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said it has identified and charged a man in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in Landover on Aug. 31.
Police said that at about 7:40 p.m., they responded to the 6900 block of Hawthorne St. for a shooting.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man, 34-year-old Jakel Stone of Bowie, shot in a parking lot. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Road closures continue in Washington County
Police said the preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect shot Stone during an argument.
Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Lawrence Fox Jr. of Hyattsville.
Authorities charged Fox with first and second-degree murder and related charges for the death of Stone.
Fox was taken into custody in Washington D.C., where he remains on no bond while awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
