Man arrested on drug distribution charge after traffic stop, Baton Rouge police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested a man on a drug distribution charge after a traffic stop.

Stanley Shepherd, 48, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Aug. 7 and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He was charged with possession with the intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics (cocaine), according to the police.

As officers tried to stop Shepherd for a traffic violation, he was reportedly seen throwing a backpack out of the window. Police stated that Shepherd “stopped his vehicle and officers retrieved the tossed item.”

According to the police, the backpack that Shepherd threw out contained 1.4 kg of suspected cocaine.
