Man arrested following Goodbee-area fatal shooting of 15-year-old girl

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A man was arrested on Friday following the death of a 15-year-old girl who was shot while sitting in the living room of a Goodbee-area home on Tuesday, July 16.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, over the course of the investigation it was found that, the man, identified as 59-year-old Wesner Fonrose, was handling a firearm with a round in the chamber while children were in the home. As he manipulated it, the gun “accidentally” went off.
Suspect identified in Central City homicide case
The bullet went through the wall and fatally struck a teenage girl, who was sitting in the living room. The victim was airlifted to a hospital, but later died due to her injury.
The STPSO arrested Fonrose on Aug. 2. He is charged with negligent homicide.
“This is a sad and tragic event, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Whenever a child is involved in a tragic accident, it affects the entire community,” said Sheriff Randy Smith.
