Man arrested in truck theft from Livingston daiquiri shop linked to another case

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Deputies say a man accused of stealing a truck from a Livingston daiquiri shop was linked to a separate case about an interstate crash.

On Thursday, July 25, deputies said a Nissan Titan was stolen from Sheri’s Daiquiris on Blackmud Road in Livingston. According to Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard, from a video, deputies identified Brandon Duncan as the theft suspect.

Deputies tracked down the vehicle and recovered it in Baton Rouge, according to LPSO.

An arrest warrant was issued for Duncan on Friday, July 26. He was taken into custody and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a charge of one count of theft of a motor vehicle.

Through their investigation, they learned that Duncan was tied to a separate case.

The Town of Livingston Police Department responded to a crash on I-12 near mile marker 20 eastbound around 2 a.m. Thursday, July 25. According to LPSO, upon the officers’ arrival, they were unable to find the driver of the car that exited the roadway.

Deputies said Duncan will also face charges in connection to the crash incident.

“It is incidents like these where a close working relationship between the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Town Livingston Police Department makes the difference,” said Livingston Police Department Chief Randy Dufrene.

The sheriff’s office said both investigations are still ongoing.
