KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 21-year-old man was sentenced for the 2021 killing of a Northland man following a shooting outside a gas station.

A Clay County judge sentenced Jraud D. Elliott to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to second-degree murder for the shooting death of 23-year-old Kamari Hughes, according to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

The incident was reported on Feb. 1, 2021 when police were called to a shooting at the Phillips 66 station on Randolph Road near the Interstate 435 interchange with MO-210.
