Man charged with manslaughter in fatal Southeast Portland crash

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is facing manslaughter and other charges for his alleged involvement in a Southeast Portland crash which killed another man early Saturday morning.

Just after 3 a.m., Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 16500 block of Southeast Foster Road on reports of a crash involving two vehicles.

One hospitalized after North Portland shooting

On arrival, they found one of the drivers had died from their injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, 29-year-old Titas Shmigel, was arrested and taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, reckless endangering of another person, failure to perform duties of a driver and DUII.

Southeast Foster Road was closed between Southeast Jenne Road and Southeast 172nd Road for several hours while officials investigated the crash.

No further information has been released at this time.
