BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man is facing charges and a school was damaged following a high-speed chase, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Shawn Oconnor, 35, is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase that began in the City of Batavia due to traffic violations. Police chased Oconnor onto Route 63 North into the Village of Oakfield, where he is accused of hitting a deputy patrol vehicle in the parking lot of Oakfield Central School.
The school, located on Lewiston Road in Oakfield, sustained damage due to Oconnor allegedly hitting multiple objects.
He is charged with second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree unlawful fleeing, second-degree reckless endangerment and over a dozen traffic violations.
He was held in custody, and more charges are expected to be filed, police said.
