Man ‘covered in blood’ found near Lawrence park after alleged attack, police investigating
LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Lawrence police are investigating following an overnight gunshots call that led to arrest one man.
The Lawrence Police Department (LPD) posted to social media Tuesday, July 23 of an incident which took place the night before. Police said officers were called around 11 p.m. on July 22 to the 200 block of Indiana Street near Burcham Park on reports of gunshots being heard in the area.
Police investigating the area initially interviewed three people but found they had no information to offer. Other officers combing the area eventually found a man “covered in blood” who claimed he had been attacked. He had open wounds on his head and back that were not caused by a firearm.
The LPD gathered evidence and arrested one of the individuals they interviewed earlier. Officers are still searching for another potential suspect connected to this incident. The victim of the alleged attack was taken to a hospital for treatment.
