KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a fatal drowning Friday after a man’s lawnmower overturned on the edge of a pond and landed on top of him, pinning him under the surface of the water.
According to MSHP, at around 2:40 p.m. Friday in Henry County, 20-year-old Brent Carroll was mowing around a private property’s pond when his Bad Boy Rogue Lawnmower lost traction and slid sideways down an embankment toward the water.

MSHP said the left rear tire dug into the ground at the edge of the pond bank, causing the lawn mover to overturn on top of Carroll who was then pinned under the surface of the water.
After the arrival of emergency responders, Carroll was pronounced dead at the scene just before 4 p.m.
