Man faces charges for allegedly stabbing Oregon Lottery winner
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A man is facing several charges after allegedly following an Oregon Lottery winner home and stabbing him multiple times while demanding the cash, court documents claim.
According to the affidavit — which was first reported by The Oregonian and obtained by KOIN 6 News — the incident occurred the night of Aug. 17 when the victim won $2,000 from a lottery machine at Montana’s Bar on Southeast Stark Street in Portland where the accused attacker and victim met.

Around 11:30 p.m. the victim started walking home from the bar, when he was followed by his alleged attacker, identified in court documents as 61-year-old Pablo Andres Figueroa.
After the victim used a key to get through a secure gate at his apartment building, Figueroa followed him to his apartment, the affidavit alleges, noting surveillance footage shows Figueroa several paces behind the victim.
Before the victim could close the door to his apartment, Figueroa forced the door open and tackled the victim, court documents say, noting Figueroa pinned the victim’s arms to the ground, struck his face and demanded money.
After the victim gave Figueroa some cash, Figueroa allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and demanded more money — stabbing the victim approximately 15 times in the arms, face, and chest, according to court documents.

The victim started to “black out” and decided to play dead, Deputy District Attorney Branden Meadows reported in the affidavit.
It is not clear how law enforcement was called to the scene, but the affidavit says officers found apartment employees and determined there was no footage of Figueroa leaving the apartment, leading them to believe he was still on the scene.
Officers eventually found the suspect in the trash room where they deployed pepper spray, arrested Figueroa and found $624 in cash on him.
Figueroa faces several charges including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery, assault, burglary, and unlawful use of a weapon. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 27.
