Marc Owens, 49, along with codefendant Lamontta Taylor, 23, were charged with the shooting death of Michael Crawford in July 2022 at an apartment complex on SW 42nd Street.

According to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, Oklahoma City Police detectives learned that Owens and Taylor were in a parking lot together near the scene just before Crawford was shot three times.

Witnesses reportedly told police that an unidentified shooter drove away from the scene in Crawford’s car.

Detectives identified Owens and Taylor as suspects in the deadly shooting based on text messages they allegedly sent to each other and cell phone tower data.

On June 27, Owens was found guilty of first degree murder and unlawful possession of marijuana. The jury recommended a sentence of life for the murder charge and one year for possession.

Owens is scheduled to be sentenced on July 30. Taylor is expected to go to trial in August for a first degree murder charge.
