Man pleads guilty in connection to fatal stabbing on Niagara Street

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge in connection to a fatal stabbing on Niagara Street in 2023, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Timothy Austin, 37, admitted to killing 49-year-old Tremaine Mayfield by stabbing him in the chest on the afternoon of June 11, 2023. Mayfield was taken to ECMC, where he died.

Austin pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree manslaughter.

He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Dec. 17. He is being held without bail.
