Man pleads guilty for role in fatal 2023 shooting on Genesee Street

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has pled guilty for his role in a fatal shooting that occurred in 2023 on Genesee Street, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.

Twandrell Dean, 25, admitted to his role in the shooting death of 31-year-old Devin Lockwood in the early morning hours of July 22, 2023 on Genesee near Mortimer Street. Two other men were injured.

Dean shot and killed Lockwood with an illegal gun. He pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree manslaughter and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The case against his co-defendant, 41-year-old Ernest Brown, is still pending. Brown is facing second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and returns to court on Thursday.

Dean faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 29. He is currently being held without bail.
