Man sentenced in crash that killed woman who just dropped off daughter at preschool
AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – A Mogadore man was sentenced to prison on Wednesday for a deadly crash that killed a local mother last year.
Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Alison McCarty sentenced 37-year-old Daniel Shanaberger to 10 to 14 years in prison for the deadly crash, prosecutors confirmed.
His driver’s license was also suspended for life.

The crash happened on March 14, 2023, as 33-year-old Ta’Shanna Junius was sitting at a red light on Manchester Road at West Wilbeth Road in Akron.
That’s when Shanaberger slammed into the back of Junius’s car, causing it to crash into another vehicle at the intersection.
Junius, who had just dropped off her daughter at preschool before the crash, died from her injuries. A driver in the other vehicle was also seriously injured.
Investigators found Shanaberger under the influence of multiple drugs, including cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, morphine, marijuana and hydrocodone, prosecutors said.

Shanaberger, who pleaded no contest, was found guilty on June 24 to charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and operating a vehicle under the influence.
“Ta’Shanna was a beloved member of the community, and her death is a tragedy which will be felt for years,” said Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich. “This was a horrible incident and I’m glad to know the defendant will spend a significant time in prison.”
