UPDATE: Wichita Falls police identify murder victim

Wichita Falls Police said a man shot Tuesday in a robbery has died.

Police identified him as Jourdyn Jones, 23, of Wichita Falls. His family has been notified.

The Wichita Falls Police Department Crimes Against Persons detectives are investigating this incident as a murder, making it the third murder in the city in 2024.

Calls about gunshots at the intersection of Calhoun and Wichita Streets in Wichita Falls Tuesday night led police to the scene.

The call came in at 10:55 p.m. Officers found four victims of a robbery at the location. Jones had been shot twice.

In a press release, the WFPD said the victims, three adults and one 16-year-old male, told the officers that they were approached by two men wearing hoodies. The suspects pulled guns and demanded their belongings.

Jones was shot during the encounter. He was taken to United Regional Health Care System with wounds police initially said did not appear to be life threatening.
