KCPD says both drivers got out of their vehicles and called 911. Investigators say the Hyundai driver put his flashers on and was standing by his driver-side door on the south shoulder.
About 30 minutes after the initial crash, the driver of a grey Chevrolet Silverado didn’t see the Hyundai flashers until the last moment and tried to swerve around the car to the left, but ended up hitting the car’s driver.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, he hasn’t been identified yet. The Silverado driver wasn’t hurt.
