Man, Woman charged in stabbing on Kansas City public bus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man and woman are charged in connection to a stabbing earlier this week on a KCATA public bus.

Jackson County prosecutors announced Thursday that Shaunte L. Washington, 31, and Mohammad S. Baker, 31, have both been charged with first-degree assault.

The incident was reported just after 1 p.m. Monday in the area of E. 31st Street and Troost Avenue.

According to court documents, Washington boarded a KCATA bus and began wielding a knife and making threatening stabbing motions toward another female passenger.

The victim confronted Washington and the Baker struck the victim several times with his fist.

Court documents say Washington then began stabbing the victim.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and suffered a puncture wound to both thighs, striking a femoral artery and a cut to the rear of his right arm.

Prosecutors have requested a $75,000 bond for each suspect.
