Man, woman shot at while driving in Berclair: Police

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is now in jail after being accused of firing shots at a man and woman while they were driving in the Berclair area Sunday morning.

Brandy Clay-Middleton, 29, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. She is being held in jail on a $7,500 bond.

Around 9:20 a.m., Memphis Police say they completed an aggravated assault report after a male victim says he was shot at by a woman he knows as Brandy Clay Middleton.

The victim says he was in a white Ford Fusion with his female friend driving past Berclair Road when Clay-Middleton started firing shots at them.

That is when officers say they were flagged down by the victims.

Additional officers responded to the scene and located Clay-Middleton. They also found a Taurus G3 9mm handgun on her back waist.

A round was in the gun’s chamber and eight bullets were in the magazine, police say.

Clay-Middleton was then taken to the General Investigation Bureau. She stated that she pulled her gun out for the male victim to see, in hopes it would deter him from hurting her.

She claims that she did not shoot the gun or call the police because they never help her.

The victim was able to positively identify Clay-Middleton in a six-photo lineup as the person responsible for the shooting.

Brandy Clay-Middleton is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
