Sigourney Weaver has joined the cast of Star Wars movie The Mandalorian & Grogu.

The Hollywood icon will be starring with Pedro Pascal in the much-anticipated spinoff of the Disney+ live-action series, according to Deadline.

"I’m playing a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu," Weaver told the outlet. "I got to meet Grogu for the first time the other day. I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest [in the West End] at the end of the year."

When the publication mentioned Star Wars will be another franchise on her impressive CV, Weaver said: "I’m looking forward to it. I can’t say much about it right now but it’s fun to bounce between all these different universes."

It's true that Weaver has been involved with many of the biggest pop culture franchises, starting with her genre-defining role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien films.

She has dual characters in James Cameron's Avatar series, and appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series The Defenders. She also recently starred in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, reprising the character she played in the first two films.

Disney announced earlier this year that The Mandalorian was making the jump to the big screen, with series creator Jon Favreau co-writing the script and directing.

"I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created," Favreau said when the film was announced in January. "The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."

The rest of the cast of The Mandalorian & Grogu remains a mystery for now, but we'd expect some familiar faces to show up in this new Star Wars adventure.

The Mandalorian seasons 1-3 are streaming on Disney+, with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie due to be released in 2026. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
