With Election Day right around the corner, Mariska Hargitay has revealed which presidential candidate will be getting her vote.

The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star made her announcement in a political ad that she shared on social media on Thursday, Oct. 17. The ad was funded through the One for All Committee, which says on its website that it is aimed at persuading “moderate women to vote for an America that works for everyone.”

“I’m Mariska, and if you know me, you know that I’ve spent my life fighting for girls and for women—both onscreen and off,” Hargitay’s video began. “You might not be surprised to hear that I like strong leaders who prioritize safety, accountability and justice.”

The 60-year-old actress then revealed her pick for president: Democrat Kamala Harris.

“With so much on the line, I trust Kamala to uphold the law and defend our freedoms,” Hargitay said. "On November 5, Kamala has my vote.”

Hargitay is the latest celebrity to announce an endorsement heading into the upcoming presidential election. Taylor Swift, Dave Bautista and Mark Cuban are among the many celebrities who have, like Hargitay, publicly revealed their intent to cast their ballots in support of Harris. Meanwhile, Harrison Butker, Savannah Chrisley and Dennis Quaid are among the celebrities who are backing Harris’ opponent, former President Donald Trump.

Though Election Day is still over two weeks away, early voting has already begun in many states. Harris has been busy campaigning since officially entering the race in July, a decision the vice president announced after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. Trump has also been actively campaigning across the U.S., though he launched his campaign much earlier in November 2022.

Trump became the Republican Party’s official 2024 presidential nominee during the Republican National Convention in July, while Harris accepted her party’s nomination at the Democratic National Convention one month later. Minnesota governor Tim Walz is sharing the Democratic ticket with Harris, while Trump picked Ohio senator JD Vance as his running mate.
