Mark your calendar to celebrate York County's 275th birthday by ringing bells

Bells will ring across York County to mark its 275th birthday this month.

The event will be held from noon to 12:05 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19.

Schools, churches, organizations, fire departments and even residents are invited to participate.

Bells were used to communicate important information years ago, call residents to gather and mark significant events, according to a news release.

"Let's fill the air with the joyful sound of bells ringing out in unison across the county!" the release states. "Encourage your friends, family, & neighbors to participate. The more bells, the merrier the celebration!"
