Matt Goss says he was nearly abducted as a child

Matt Goss has said he was nearly abducted when he was a child.

The pop legend who is currently appearing on Strictly Come Dancing detailed the incident in his memoir More Than You Know.

Occurring when he was just seven, Goss wrote: “A man tried to snatch me into a car. I can still see his face vividly, dark-haired and with a moustache.”

He then detailed the attempted kidnapping: “I often used to sit on the wall by an old people's home. One day I was there, just hanging out and being a kid really, when I heard a noise behind me. I looked round and saw this man reaching for me. Over his shoulder I could see his car parked by the grass verge with the back door open."

Goss also said how he got away from the man: “I jumped off the wall which was ten feet off the pavement and ran all the way home. It scared the hell out of me.”

Goss' stint on Strictly Come Dancing hasn't gotten off to the best of starts as he was in the bottom two facing elimination.

Instead Loose Women host Kaye Adams became the first contestant to leave the dancing competition after losing the dance off to the Bros singer.

All of the judges except Shirley Ballas chose to save Goss and send Adams home.

Goss began his entertainment career as part of Bros with his brother Luke and Craig Logan.

They became one of the most popular pop acts of the late 1980's, selling over 16 million records during their six year existence.

After splitting in 1992, Goss began a solo career before beginning a residency in Las Vegas.

He released his most recent album earlier this year which became his highest charting release as a solo artist. The Beautiful Unknown reached number seven in the UK Albums Chart.
