Mayflower police identify victims found at church during welfare check

MAYFLOWER, Ark. – Police in Mayflower have identified the victims who were found dead at a local church Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, officials with the Mayflower Police Department responded to a welfare check at the First Baptist Church of Mayflower around 12:30 p.m.

Mayflower police investigating after finding two bodies during welfare check at church

After arriving, police said that they found the bodies of two victims, later identified as 45-year-old Jalesha Jeffery and 24-year-old Antonio Simmons of Conway.

Police officials said that Jeffery and Simmons were found with gunshot wounds in the church’s parking lot. Investigators said that two guns were also found at the scene.

Authorities said that detectives do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident.
