McDonald's Aims to Attract Customers With Enticing New Meal
McDonald's
McDonald's will reportedly offer a new limited-time promotional deal that focuses on "value and affordability" after the fast food chain faced backlash from its customers over menu prices.
The company will have a new $5 meal promotion starting June 25 that will last around a month, according to CBS News. Included in the meal will be small fries, a drink, and either a McChicken, McDouble or four-piece chicken McNuggets.
"We know how much it means to our customers when McDonald's offers meaningful value and communicates it through national advertising," McDonald's told the publication. "That's been true since our very beginning and never more important than it is today."
Franchise owner John Palmaccio reportedly shared an internal message about the promotion as well that said, "Great value and affordability have always been a hallmark of McDonald's brand," claiming that the new $5 meal will "deliver that at a time when our customers really need it."

CBS News reported that the meal deal was recently approved by franchise owners, although McDonald's has not yet made an official announcement.
Some shared their opinions about the promotion on social media, with quite a few calling out the fast food chain for the deal being temporary. In response to a post about the news on X, one person wrote, "Why for ONLY a limited time?" as another said, "Why even bother then."
McDonald's $5 meal deal comes not long after fans called out the brand for its menu prices, such as the rising cost of the Dollar Menu and unpredictable pricing of a "dinner box" option.
The food chain also recently announced that it would be foregoing free refills on drinks, although it said refills could still be available “at the discretion of individual restaurant owner/operators.” McDonald's is starting to get rid of self-serve soda machines as well.
At the same time, the company has been offering a lot of interesting new menu options recently, such as the new Grandma McFlurry.
