Meet the 9th Assembly District candidates in the Democratic primary in Tuesday's election
Two candidates are running in the Democratic primary for the 9th Assembly District seat of the state Legislature in the Aug. 13 primary election.
Deisy Espa?a and Priscilla A. Prado will face off in the primary, with the winner taking on Republican Ryan Antczak in the Nov. 5 general election. Antczak is unopposed in the GOP primary.
The seat is open after Rep. Marisabel Cabrera won her race for Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge.
The 9th Assembly District is a Milwaukee-area district that stretches from Mitchell Park and West Milwaukee to the north and West Layton Avenue to the south.

Deisy Espa?a
Residence: Milwaukee
Political experience: None
Occupation: Student at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Also, community organizer with Voces de la Frontera
Policies: On her campaign website, Espa?a supports a "bold, progressive agenda" that includes policies to expand BadgerCare, restore workers’ rights, strengthen public schools, restore driver licenses for undocumented Wisconsinites and secure in-state tuition and professional licenses for DACA recipients.
Priscilla A. Prado
Residence: Milwaukee
Past political experience: None
Occupation: Small business owner and accountant. Also, treasurer on the executive board of directors for the Wisconsin Latino Chamber of Commerce
Policies: On her campaign website, Prado's policies focus on public safety and access to health care and affordable housing. She supports promoting community policing programs and accountability for police and expanding health care access to underserved communities.
