Meet Apponequet Regional High School's Top 10 graduates of 2023
LAKEVILLE — The following students were named to the Top 10 of Apponequet Regional High School's class of 2023.
1. Eoin Gallagher is the president of the National Honor Society. Eoin has been a member of Cross Country, Winter & Spring Track, Student Council, Student Government, Green Team, Yearbook Club, Art Share Travel Club, Laker Leaders, DECA, and the Science Olympiad Team. He previously served as the Historian of the Student Council and is currently the President of the Green Team and the Vice-President of the Class of 2023. Eoin has earned the Francis Gallishaw Award, Rensselaer Medal, AP Scholar Award, AP Chemistry Award, as well as Honors Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Awards. Eoin has volunteered his time for the Apponequet Athletic Boosters, Freetown Food Pantry, Gifts to Give, and Saint John Neumann Church. Eoin is planning on attending Bowdoin College and majoring in Biochemistry.
2. Amirtha Santhosh has been a member of the varsity swim team, varsity tennis team, LIFE Club, and a Laker Leader. Amirtha has achieved or earned the Bausch & Lomb Scholar Award, AP Scholar Award, and National Merit Scholar Award. Amirtha has volunteered her time at Tobey Hospital, Middleboro Food Pantry, FLRSD Tennis Programs, and as a peer tutor. Amirtha is planning on attending Boston University and majoring in biology.
3. Elizabeth Ashley has been a member of the varsity volleyball team, varsity tennis team, the Apponequet basketball team, and National Honor Society and is also a Laker Leader. Elizabeth has earned the Abigail Adams Scholarship, Academic Excellence Award in Advanced Placement Chemistry, and has been a recipient of the South Coast Conference Sportsmanship Award twice. Elizabeth has volunteered her time at the Freetown Historical Society and local events hosted by the Tuesday Club of Assonet including the Strawberry Festival and an annual stocking stuffing event for Veterans. Elizabeth is attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and majoring in Medical Laboratory Science. After her undergraduate studies, Elizabeth plans on attending an optometry college.
4. Jocelyn Carvalho has been a dedicated member of the varsity swim team and was captain this past year as well as a member of the math team, student council, NHS, and the Laker Leaders. She also participated in DECA for the past two years and competed at the DECA States and International Career Development Conference. Jocelyn has earned four science department awards for Honors Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering. She also received a Highest Honors award from the Society of Women Engineers for her performance in STEM classes. Jocelyn also received the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. Outside of school, Jocelyn has volunteered her time as an active volunteer in the community through Girl Scouts, where she has been a member for the past 13 years. She has also tutored and taught swim lessons. Jocelyn plans on attending the University of Rhode Island for pharmacy.
5. Lucas Quinn has been a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Green Team, and AST. He has also participated in Cross Country, winter and spring track, earning varsity letters for these teams. Lucas has earned two science department awards as well as a conference sportsmanship award in winter track. Lucas has volunteered his time for the Apponequet athletic boosters and for events at Assawompset elementary school. Lucas is planning on attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst Commonwealth Honors College this fall.
6. Katie Hague has been a member of the varsity soccer team and was the school council representative for the senior class. She has also been a Laker leader since grade 10. Katie Hague has achieved or earned the Abigail Adams Scholarship. Katie Hague has volunteered their time at Gifts to Give and with the Athletic Boosters. She plans to play soccer at Dean College in the fall and major in Psychology.
7. Abigail Menendez is the Vice-President of the National Honor Society. Abigail is also the secretary for Student Government. She is a member of the Student Council, Varsity soccer, Varsity lacrosse, DECA, Green Team, Physics Olympics, and Laker Leaders. Abigail has achieved South Coast Conference All-Star for soccer two years in a row and lacrosse as a junior and has qualified for the International DECA Conference for 2 consecutive years. Abigail has volunteered her time with the Athletic Boosters, at Gifts to Give, at St. John Neumann Church, as a Spanish tutor, and at other school events such as Artapalooza and Open House. Abigail plans to major in engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
8. Mary Tomaszewski has been a member of Apponequet Girls Basketball and the LIFE Club. Mary has volunteered her time teaching swimming lessons and working at a booth at both the Lakeside Family Festival and the Portuguese Feast. Mary plans to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute and major in mathematical sciences.
9. Sophia Kyranos has been a member of many sports including volleyball, tennis, and dance. She has also been a member of the Student Government, Student Council, Laker Leaders, and DECA. Sophia has competed nationally for DECA and was a winner of the JA Titan Business Challenge. Sophia has volunteered their time at Apponequet. Sophia will attend the University of Delaware for Chemical Engineering.
10. Rebecca DiClemente is the secretary of the National Honor Society. Rebecca has been a member of the volleyball team for four years serving as captain for two years. Rebecca has been one of the class representatives of Student Government for four years as well as a member of the Student Council. She has also been a member of the Green Team and a Laker Leader for two years. Rebecca is also a recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. Rebecca has volunteered her time at Saint John Neumann Church, the Apponequet Athletic Boosters, and as a camp coach for the FLRSD campus volleyball program for four years. Rebecca is planning on attending Saint Joseph’s College where she will double major in Mathematics and Finance.
