Meet the new West Ridge Mall manager

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The West Ridge Mall in Topeka now has a new manager.

Casey Richardson, a Topeka native, has big plans to bring more customers to the shopping center. Like many Topekans, she said the mall has seen better days.

While she wants to bring back some large retail chains, she said Topekans enjoy shopping local, and it’s a priority to incorporate some local flavor.

“Those national tenants are going to be some that we want to get back,” she said, “But also keeping that local aspect in mind because we want to be Topeka’s premier retail shopping destination. What we’re really trying to do is just bring this back to somewhere where Topeka can really be proud of, and a place of community.”

Richardson said she and her team are thinking outside the box when it comes to bringing customers in.

She said the mall has events planned, including ‘Paint and Sip’ on April 12, which will feature catering from Iron Rail Brewing and painting on canvas.

There will also be food truck days, and vintage sports collectible events in the near future.
