Metra to run hourly service between O’Hare, Union Station during DNC

CHICAGO — Metra will offer hourly service on its North Central Service line between O’Hare International Airport and Union Station during the Democratic National Convention.

Metra CEO Jim Derwinski revealed the hourly service plan Tuesday at an Illinois Senate Committee hearing called to discuss the future of Chicagoland transit.

Derwinski said the commuter rail agency will begin hourly shuttle service on the North Central Service line between Chicago’s largest airport and downtown for 10 days coinciding with the Democratic National Convention being held Aug. 19 through Aug. 22.

The shuttle trains will operate in addition to regular service on the line. The one-way fare between O’Hare and Union Station is $3.75.

Dirwinski said if it’s popular enough, they may work to extend the more frequent schedule on the North Central Service line.
